Trainee Paraplanner

Are you a graduate trainee looking to start a career or already in a role and seeking a new professional career? Do you want to do something you can become qualified in and be proud of? With a company that offers clear progression and rapid growth for the right candidate?

Joslin Rhodes are Pension and Retirement Planners at Preston Farm in Teesside. We merge Life Coaching and Independent Financial Advice into a hybrid service that we call PlanHappy. We're offering a fantastic opportunity for two exceptional people to join our client technical team as Paraplanners. Ideal for someone who wants to build a career in financial services, full training will be given and you will join our training academy with the aim of completing the Regulated Diploma in Financial Planning within 2 years.

We’re looking for someone who is keen to learn and can pick up new skills quickly. We want someone who is good at problem solving and can work well under pressure. Excellent report writing skills are a must as well as the ability to communicate well with a range of different people.

From a technical and regulatory viewpoint, we are Independent Financial Advisers. However, we operate completely differently from traditional financial advice firms because we do not focus solely on selling financial products. Instead, we use our PlanHappy life coaching service to help people plan their life and retirement and enable them to enjoy their desired lifestyle free from worry.

We operate from The Planning Rooms at Preston Farm and serve clients throughout Teesside and Darlington. We have a team of 35 people and are growing.

We are happy to recruit from outside the Financial Services Industry for someone who already demonstrates the required skills, or a graduate trainee.

Role Overview

We'll ask you to assimilate the client's current financial situation and create proposals for our Financial Planners to present to clients. You will use cash flow modelling software to prepare a financial plan that shows our clients that they can enjoy their ideal lifestyle. Whilst not client facing, this role is pivotal in our PlanHappy process, so attention to detail, accuracy and the ability to interpret and present information are key skills. You will ensure files are compliant and that client recommendation reports are prepared to regulatory standards. You'll also participate regularly in team meetings, including highlighting any issues and owning actions through to resolution.

  • Do you have a degree (minimum 2.1) or equivalent, or experience of demonstrating the skills required in an existing role?

  • Are you numerate and good at problem solving?
  • Are you willing to work towards exams?
  • Are you friendly and work well as part of a team?
  • Can you work well under pressure and ensure that deadlines are met?
  • Do you enjoy problem solving and want to help our clients live the lifestyle they desire?
