About the role

As a Paraplanner, you are responsible for building a client’s lifestyle financial plan (a.k.a. ‘the puzzle’).

Every Joslin Rhodes client has unique retirement dreams, unique circumstances, and a unique mix of financial products (such as pensions and property), so it will be up to you to bring all of these pieces together to create a unique retirement plan that does what it needs to—including taking away the client’s financial worries!

You will do this by:

  • Completing in-depth product and investment analysis.
  • Coming up with creative ideas to help a client achieve their retirement dreams when it doesn’t look possible.
  • Taking a holistic approach and using software to prove your theories.
  • Preparing written recommendations that deliver the best outcomes for clients using cashflow modelling.
  • Supporting the wider Operations teams for such activities as ongoing servicing, transactions and tax guidance.
  • Balancing operational demands with commercial awareness.

What it takes to be a successful Paraplanner at Joslin Rhodes:

  • You always act with integrity, as our clients’ financial future depends on it.
  • You are diligent and appreciate that the work you’re doing is too important to get wrong.
  • You are reliable, organised, and able to multi-task.
  • You have high standards and always do what you say you will.
  • You are able to understand, interpret, and analyse technical information.
  • You are highly skilled in Microsoft Office software, in particular Excel.
  • You have a cool, calm head and a positive mindset.
  • You enjoy working as part of a team and take pride in your work.
  • You have excellent communication skills and are comfortable speaking with clients and colleagues alike.
  • You are adaptable to change.
  • You currently hold or are studying for your Diploma in Financial Planning.

If you think you tick all these boxes, here’s what your typical day could look like:

  • Reviewing client information and clarifying details directly with clients.
  • Assembling cashflow models and creating a range of lifestyle scenarios.
  • Analysing policy information and formulating recommendations.
  • Writing recommendation reports and producing supporting documentation.
  • Speaking with clients (phone and email) on matters that are important to their circumstances, for example, tax guidance.
